Canada Fleabane
Conzya canadensis (L.) Cronq.
An erect annual or winter annual ranging from 0.1 to 1.5 m tall. Leaves are alternate, narrow and 2.0 to 10 cm long. Main stems are usually unbranched and coarsely hairy. Numerous, small flowers (<5.0 mm diameter) are borne on strongly branched petioles. Flowers are compound with the outer ray florets with white ‘petals’ and the inner disc florets are a bright yellow. At maturity, a dirty-white, dandelion-like pappus forms and distributes the wind-blown seed. Blooms July to late fall.
