Lamb’s Quarters
Chenopodium album L.
An erect, much-branched annual up to 1.5 m or more tall. First pairs of seedling leaves are opposite but others alternate with long stalks. Leaf shape is variable but usually triangular with coarsely toothed margins). New leaves and undersides of older ones greyish due to a mealy surface wax. Flowers are small and greenish and packed into compact clusters on the end of stems or in leaf mils. Seeds are small, circular, shiny black and covered with a thin membrane.
