Pearly Everlasting
Anaphalis margaritaceae (L.) Benth. & Hook.
An erect, woolly perennial 30 to 90 cm tall. Adapted to dry sites, spreads by rhizomes, often forming patches. Leaves are lance-shaped, alternate, with smooth margins and white, woolly undersides. The upper side is less hairy and darker green. Numerous white flowers are found in terminal, branched and showy clusters. The flowers are compound and the ‘petals’ are papery bracts that persist. Blooms in August and September.
