Slender Rush
Juncus tenuis Wild.
An erect, perennial rush that forms a tussock of thin (1 to 3 mm wide) leaves. The flowering stalk is smooth and round and 20 to 40 cm tall. The upper half has no leaves. An identifying feature is a papery projection of the leaf sheath above the base of the leaf. The flower head is branched with flowers arranged on one side of the stalk. The fruit is a capsule.
