Spotted Joe Pye Weed
Eupatorium maculatum L.
A coarse, unbranched perennial which can grow up to 2.0 m tal. The leaves are lance-shaped to oval, toothed, and found in groups of 3-5. The stem is often a mottkd purple. The flowers are purple and the flower head is 5 to 20 cm wide. Flowering occurs from July to September. The fruit is an achene covered with yellow spots.
