Trailing Blackberry
Rubus hispidus L.
A trailing to low arching plant with weak bristles along a woody, vine-like stem. Stem tips that contact the soil may root and produce new plants. Plants hybridize and may be highly variable. Leaves are palmately compound with 3 or more leaflets. Undersides are smooth and waxy. Flowers are up to 2 cm in diameter with 5 white petals and numerous pistals) and occur on 2-year-old vines. The plant flowers during July and the black fruit matures in late summer.
