Wild Buckwheat
Polygonum convolvulus L.
An annual with twining or trailing stems to 2.0 m long. Leaves are alternate, smooth and heart- to arrow-head shaped with pointed tips. They have a short, papery sheath at the leaf axils. Flowers are small, drooping, greenish and occur in loose clusters. Seeds are dull black and triangular in cross section. Blooms from late May to mid-autumn.
