Woolly Panicum
(Panicum lanuginosum Ell.)
A highly variable, coarsely hairy, low growing perennial grass with a fibrous root system that forms a tussock of short, pointed leaves that are broadest at the base. Ltgules are conspicuous with 2 to 5 long hairs. Tussocks may be semi-prostrate and flowering heads are 20 to 50 cm tall. Seedlings are robust with wide hairy leaves. The seed head is a relatively small, spreading panicle.
