Ajuga is a garden escape that grows in patches. It is a low creeping perennial which spreads by means of numerous creeping stolons or stems. Flowering stems grow from 10 to 30 cm tall The leaves are oval to spoon-shaped and are mostly smooth or only slightly hairy. The flowers are blue to purplish and are found in a thick clustered spike. Flowering occurs in late May and June.
