Arrow-Leaved Smartweed
Polygonum sagittalum L.
A slender trailing or climbing annual of wet soils with stems 1.0 to 2.0 m long. Leaves are opposite, elongated, and arrow-head shaped. Stems have rows of downwardly curved bristles, and swollen nodes with a thin, papery sheath at the leaf axils. Small, white to pink flowers are found in terminal clusters and form a 3- sided seed. Blooms from July to October.
