Bird’s Foot Trefoil
Lotus corniculatus L.
An introduced, many stemmed, prostrate to erect perennial legume growing up to 60 cm tall. Leaves are compound with 5 broad leaflets. The flower head is a cluster of bright yellow pea-like flowers. The fruit is a pod which splits and becomes tightly twisted at maturity. Blooms from June to August.
