Broad Leaved Meadowsweet
Spiraea alba Du Rod var. latifolia (Aiton) Dippel
An erect shrub up to 1.5 m tall, but usually <1.0 m in blueberry fields. Leaves are alternate, oval with toothed margins and the undersides are smooth. The flowering head is an open panicle of small white to pale pink flowers with 5 rounded petals. It flowers from June to September. The fruit is a small brown capsule that splits open when mature.
