Canada Goldenrod
Solidago canadensis L.
An erect perennial plant up to 1.5 m tall and spreading by underground rhizomes. Leaves are alternate, lance-shaped, and with 3 prominent ribs. Many small, yellow flowers occur on one side of numerous curved branches. Flowers are compound with yellow inner disc florets and outer ray florets providing 10 to 15 ‘petals’. Seed is air-borne on a white-grey pappus. Blooms late July to September.
