Canadian Rhododendron
Rhododendron canadensis L.
A much-branched shrub adapted to wet areas. It has clusters of large, showy, rose-purple flowers that appear in early May before the leaves. Leaves are oval, smooth and with rust-coloured hairs on the lower surface. The fruit is a capsule that is several times longer than wide.
