Corn Spurry
Spergula arvensis L.
Slender, trailing annual with many stems originating from the base. Leaves are very narrow, bright green, sometimes slightly sticky and 2.0 to 5.0 cm long. Paired leaves are opposite and occur in whorl-like clusters of 6 to 30 at the stem nodes. Flowers are small with 5 white petals. The fruit is a small, oval seed pod that splits releasing numerous fiat, round seeds.
