Fireweed
Bpilabium angustifolium L.
A tall, usually unbranched perennial up to 2.0 m in height. Leaves are alternate, long and narrow with smooth or slightly toothed margins and pale undersides. The flowers have long stalks (occur in terminal spikes) and have 4 pink to purple showy petals. The fruit is a long, narrow capsule that splits on maturity releasing seed with a tuft of white or tan pappus that is adapted to wind dispersal. Blooms in July and August.
