A low-growing, trailing, strawberry-like perennial with reddish, hairy stems up to 60 cm long that may root at the tips The leaves are palmately compound with 5 elliptical and sharply toothed leaflets. Flowers with 5 bright yellow heart-shaped petals are borne on long stalks arising from leaf nils. The fruit is a head or cluster of small, dry seeds. Blooms in June and July.
