Smooth Bedstraw
Odium mollugo L.
A tall, erect perennial with a smooth 4-angled stem. Smooth bedstraw can grow up to 90 cm in length. The leaves are lance-shaped with. pointed tips. They are found in whorls of 6-8 leaves. Flowers are small, white and found in large flowering heads which have wide-spreading flowering stalks. Flowering occurs in July and August. The fruit is smooth, not bristly. A common weed found in fields and along roadsides. It is uncommon in blueberry fields.
