Yellow Toadflax (Butter and eggs)

A short, erect or sparsely branched perennial that spreads by creeping rhizomes. Leaves are opposite, narrow, 2 to 10 cm long with smooth margins and are often numerous and crowded . Snapdragon-like flowers have 5 irregular yellow petals and an orange centreĀ  and are fused into a floral tube with a long ‘spur’. The fruit is an egg-shaped seed pod with numerous dark, flat, winged seeds. Blooms from June to October.
